Cello, Suzuki cello

Abigail McHugh earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in cello performance from The Cleveland Institute of Music.  She holds an additional Master’s degree in Human Development from the Warner School of Education and a Ph.D. in Music Education from the Eastman School of Music.  Her dissertation research focused on how social relationships influence musical development.

Abby loves to teach and has had the pleasure of doing so in a number of contexts.  She initially began teaching according to the Suzuki Method as a faculty member of the Preparatory Department at The Cleveland Institute of Music, and is currently a Suzuki and traditional teacher for the Kanack School of Music.  She has taught a variety of collegiate-level music education courses at Eastman, and also teaches early childhood music classes for the Eastman Community Music School.
